How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in the Marine Science Magnet High School!

2018-2019 School Year

MSMHS is now accepting student applications for the 2018-2019 school year on October 1, 2017. We encourage interested families to attend one of our Open Houses for more information and a tour of the school:

Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 6:30 p.m., or
Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 6:30 p.m.


Our application period is open from October 1, 2017 until January 5, 2018. Those interested in applying for the 2018-19 school year may apply on line or submit a paper application.  (Paper applications may be faxed to 860-446-9381; emailed to bmachaffie@msmhs.com; or mailed to MSMHS, 130 Shennecossett Road, Groton, CT 06340.) 

There are no prerequisites for applying to MSMHS: students who are residents of Connecticut and are currently enrolled in the 8th grade are eligible to submit an application for the MSMHS freshman class.

Applicants are selected through an electronic lottery process. Families will be notified by the end of January if their child was selected in the lottery.

Southeastern Connecticut Magnet Schools are committed to serving military families and their children.  If slots are available, Marine Science Magnet High School may assist highly mobile families who transfer to the region following the regular application period.  If you are moving to the area or receive transfer orders to the Connecticut Submarine Base or the Coast Guard Academy and are interested in learning more about our school, please call 860-446-9380.
